Built in 1270 by Gilbert de Clare, Earl of Gloucester and Lord of Glamorgan, the remains of what once was Morlais Castle, runs along the right hand side of the third fairway and overlooks the border between Brecon and Glamorgan.

A challenging moorland golf course set in the surroundings of the foothills of the Brecon Beacons with some magnificent scenic views. Situated some 24 miles north of Cardiff. Morlais Castle Golf Club is enjoyable for both low and high handicapped golfers.

Spectacular views across the Brecon Beacons National Park, the course is one of two halves. The first nine holes are built around the old quarry while the back nine are set on rolling moorland. A modern clubhouse and indoor practice area coupled with the warmest of welcomes completes the Morlais experience.

One hundred years has seen many changes at Morlais Castle Golf Club. We now have a course and clubhouse of which we can be proud and the facilities that they offer to members and guests. Morlais Castle Golf Club has always held a reputation for being friendly to all who seeks its company both on the course and in the clubhouse.

The 2024 season proved to be a memorable one for everyone involved at Morlais Castle Golf Club. We were honoured to host the Wales Golf, Welsh Club Team Championships. The event was a resounding success on many fronts. The event received excellent support from the membership and locality and the crowning glory of the weekend was that Team Morlais won the Championship for the first time in our history.

The team went on to represent Wales at the European Team Championships in Bordeaux and despite some horrific weather Team Morlais and the loyal band of supporters represented Club, Town and Country with great pride.

The accolades continued as in late 2024 we were nominated for the BIGGA Championship Greenkeeping Performance of the Year Award and were shortlisted in the top 3 clubs in the UK.

In the award ceremony at Harrogate in January 2025 we were awarded 1st place. This was an incredible achievement and just reward for all the hard work put in by our Greens Staff and the volunteers who all helped create a memorable weekend at Morlais Castle.

In 2025 Morlais Castle Golf Club celebrated its 125th Anniversary.
